Ibiza’s turning Japanese, we think it’s turning Japanese, we really think so...
Well, we’re not morphing into Harajuku types just yet, but Japanese is definitely one of the many cultures that the white isle is embracing wholeheartedly in summer 2009. From kimono-style kaftans cropping up in the most stylish of Ibiza boutiques and striking stylistic Japanese tattoos making statements on lithe, tanned limbs at the beach to zen-like spas and wellbeing treatments
- even mega club Space has gotten in on the action, launching an all-new Friday night party called Kehakuma, with Geisha girl inspired artwork and a tech-house line-up that is the talk of the town.
But here at White Ibiza, we really must admit it is Japanese cuisine that is constantly crossing our lips (quite literally!) with a plethora of high-quality sushi and Asian fusion restaurants on our doorsteps and gracing our favourite island locations.
We’ve got seaside sushi bars set up in our favourite beach clubs – think Blue Marlin, Ushuaia and Jockey Club – and glam restaurants boasting sushi menus alongside traditional fare (like Pacha
, El Ayoun, Bambuddha Grove and Atzaró) plus purist venues dedicated to the art of sushi, including Kama Sushi
, B.For Planet Sushi and Sushipoint Ibiza. With options like these, there’s all the more reason to pick up those chopsticks and dine out Japanese style, each and every night of the week |

Vivienne Westwood
Vivienne Westwood once said she has an ‘in-built clock that reacts against anything orthodox.’ So if she were looking for a new home (ignoring the fact she has very pale skin and probably detests the sun), she would be welcomed in Ibiza with open arms.
Westwood’s collections may be based in English tailoring, but there is nothing remotely staid about them. They are beautifully constructed and hang fabulously…
