When people say things are heating up in Ibiza, they’re generally not talking about the weather – though you can trust us when we say that the temperatures are soaring right now. They’re referring to the rapid rate at which our favourite bars, beach clubs, restaurants and stores are re-opening, new businesses are springing up and the tourism troops are arriving on the isle in droves…
Being lucky enough to be on the island at this time of year gives us plenty of time to top up the tans before summer really hits and it also allows us to spend hours and hours making the most of these places, sampling menus, sipping cocktails and styling ourselves in the best Ibiza fashions. Now all we need to do is spend a week lazing around the pool at an exclusive Ibiza villa and we’d be able to savour the whole Ibiza experience… But we’ll leave that bit up to you – some of us have work to do in Ibiza you know! |

There’s a certain island character who’s been keeping himself uber-busy this winter – despite the fact he was busy and bouncy beforehand – and that’s the eternally optimistic, always smiling and forever friendly entrepreneur extraordinaire Jason Bull, of the iconic Base Bar and Es Vive fame.
With two new ventures in the pipeline for 2009, in conjunction with some high-profile partners, we’ve been looking forward to the unveiling of his latest projects for some time – and today marked the opening of numero uno, the chic and stylish Sands Beach Restaurant in Playa den Bossa.

You great big lemon...
Citrus fruits are glorious fruits and all of them have their place in the kitchen. But king of the kitchen would have to be the lemon. So versatile, so uplifting, so… yellow. Here in Ibiza, as with almost all of the indigenous produce, the lemons are hard to beat. Big and sweet but sharp, with good thick pith and skin - I have had lemons here that are pure sherbet.
The lemon season starts in December but it is around now that they really come into their own. Nobody who knows anything about lemons agrees with me on this…
